Let’s talk about your Independence Day song ‘Jeetkar Dikhaana Hai’
I will call Jeetkar Dikhaana Hai Our song...it is a non-commercial project and celebrated artists have joined us in our mission solely on our goodwill. As a singer, it is an honor for me to be a part of this song. Jeetkar Dikhaana Hai is a direct salute and a pep message to all warriors who are risking their lives for ours at this crucial period, from doctors and scientists to the defense forces, as well as a huge motivational message to the public to fight the pandemic together.
The lyrics of the song are penned by Rahul B Seth while the concept and creation is by the multifaceted Filmmaker/producer/singer/music director Rajesh Roy. The production has been carved in such a way so the whole world feels a sense of responsibility towards writing their own destiny. Renowned names like Kailash Kher, Usha Uthap, Kunal Ganjawala, etc., have featured in the song. How challenging was to bring them together for a song? Anything you learnt from them and want to share with us? It sure was some task but once they heard the song and the intention behind this mission of ours, everything fell in place. Everyone was very supportive and did the needful. A lesson that I personally learnt is to be as grounded as possible and give back to society. They are all stalwarts and each one was humble and cooperative, it has been a wonderful experience. Any message you want to give on the occasion of Independence Day? Yes! Please Value your Independence and take responsibility as it is a legacy we have got from our brave hearts and ancestors who sacrificed their lives for it. When did the bug of singing bite you? Did you always want to become a singer? I remember singing from an early age. In every school function, I was a star singer/dancer. I am also a graduate in Vocal music but it was only after I had a baby girl that I reconnected to music and decided to follow my passion and never look back. Have you taken professional music training? Yes like I said music was a subject in college and later for 14 years, I was associated with Mr. Pawan Naidu who has been my mentor in Delhi. Now, in Mumbai, I get to learn from every single person I work with.
Your earlier song ‘Kadi Hoon Karke’ was from the Hindi film ‘Virgin Bhanupriya’. Can you tell us about it? Kadi Hoon Karke is a full-on upbeat- foot-tapping, vibrant song for which music director duo Saurabh-Vaibhav wanted me to render and make good use of my powerful vocals. It is from the film Virgin Bhanupriya – a Zee5 exclusive Hindi family comedy, featuring Urvashi Rautela, Gautam Gulati, Archana Puran Singh, Delnaaz Irani, etc.
‘Chaap Tilak’ was also your latest release. Let’s talk about it
Chhaap-Tilak has seen the light of the day and has been released on YouTube. Music director/singer Siddhant Madhav and I have featured in the song. It is garnering a good response and I can term it as Sufi-fusion maintaining the purity of the hook line.
Who has been your role model from the music industry? The list is endless...but Geeta Dutt has left a huge impact on me! Which genre is your favourite? Do you want to stick to one specific genre or explore all of them? I love to be versatile, would definitely like to explore all genres, learn, adapt, and incorporate them to create my own individual style.
Can you tell us about your upcoming single - ‘O Jiya’? O Jiya is a melodious single that will be released by Crescendo Music. Yug Bhusal is the music director of the song. Apart from me, actors Pihu Sand and Gaurav Sharma will feature in the music video. It will showcase a very different tonal quality of mine.
Where do you see yourself five years from now? Well! I live each day as it comes. Accept and adapt to whatever life has to offer me. Five years back who had thought of being in a situation we all are in today?
