MUMBAI: School of Shuffle, digital workshops by BREEZER Vivid Shuffle to enable enthusiasts and upcoming artists to learn new hip-hop techniques, is back with phase 2. Launched in November, the workshops bring alive sessions by the community’s best across dance forms like Hip-hop Showcase, Breaking and Popping, as well as rap and graffiti. It is available free of cost to make the hip-hop learning experience more accessible.
Phase 2 will kick-start with a dance session by Alisha Shaikh and a music production workshop by music producer, beat-maker and entrepreneur, Sajeel Kapoor, popularly known as Sez on the Beat on 17th December. Tushar Shetty, a street dancer from Mumbai who represented India at the World Hip-hop Championship in 2014 and 2015, will be conducting a dance workshop on 18th December. Tushar has also assisted with choreography on popular dance reality shows like Nach Baliye, Dance India Dance, and is currently working as a choreographer on the show India’s Best Dancer. Dance enthusiasts have another great opportunity to learn from the trained dancer and choreographer of urban hip-hop, Kartik Raja on the 19th of December. School of Shuffle also presents an incredible opportunity to get a sneak peek into the writing process of the poet and rapper Spitfire through his workshop ‘Kagaz aur Kalam by Spitfire’ on 19th December. Fondly called ‘Little Ghalib,’ Spitfire has created a unique space for himself in India’s hip-hop scene with tracks like ‘Asli Hip-hop’ which featured in Gully Boy, ‘Shuru Karein Kya’ in Article 15, and his debut EP ‘Paathshala.’ Being held online, these workshops are breaking geographical boundaries and for the first time, giving people across the country a chance to participate from the comfort of their homes. It is an amazing learning opportunity for enthusiasts and also a chance for competitors to hone their skills.
The first phase of School of Shuffle saw an overwhelming response with 120+ people joining in for the workshops by artists like Sambo Mukherjee, Tushar Shetty and Himanshu Dulani, rappers Yung Raj and Stunnah Beatz, and the aesthetic and bold Street Art x Zake. The cool sneaker customization workshop by Fogaat saw great engagement by the participants.
